Twitter Tips for Beginners

If you’re new to Twitter and want some tips as to where to get started, check out our tips below:

  1. Twitter’s own 101 Guide and other Twitter articles is ALWAYS a great place to start.
  2. When creating your profile, make sure to add a bit about yourself and your personality, not just keywords to drive business.  Remember people like to do business with people they Know, Like & Trust.
  3. Use a real photo of yourself as your avatar.  It builds the brand YOU and it allows your followers to connect to you as a ‘real person’.
  4. Use Twitter Search to find and follow companies, competitors and people you would like to get to know.
  5. I would suggest you limit your Twitter automation. I don’t know about you, but I want to build relationships with ‘real’ people.
  6. Try to always strive to provide value to your followers by retweeting RT@ great information shared on twitter and share original thoughts.
  7. To keep things organized, targeted and specific, seek out third-party applications like Tweetdeck.
  8. Spend some time listening.  Nothing worse then someone that isn’t hearing what you need or want.
  9. And maybe the most important tip….be YOURSELF.
